The Board of Directors has announced that 45 scholarships were awarded in May, 2023. These scholarships totaled $95,600.00.

New Mexico Highlands University selected Matie Viles and Ken and Sue Crimmins to co-name the new Student Residence hall on their campus. It is known as the "Matie Viles and Ken and Sue Crimmin Student Residence Hall". ~Viles Foundation, Inc.

June Garcia and Raquel Arellano June Garcia, a San Miguel County Commissioner, was an invited guest. She is with Raquel "Kiki" Arellano, a scholarship recipient who is employed by San Miguel County.
Armando Pollack and Hope Vigil-Martinez Armando Pollack and Hope Vigil-Martinez Armando Pollack visits with Hope Vigil-Martinez. Mr. Pollack is retired after 30 years in Washington D.C with the United States Public Health Service.

NMHU financial aid office. She is talking with Beatrice Hurtado about the irony that Debbie and her husband Art are the caretakers of the ranch in Cebolla Canyon where Matie Viles was raised by the Robinson Family.


Justine Crespin Chavez Justine Crespin Chavez Justine Crespin Chavez graduated from NMSU in the spring of 2011 with a degree in communication. Denise Montoya Denise Montoya Denise Montoya and her twin sister Melanie Montoya with Menalie's son Carlo and fiancé Martin Lucero. Denise and Melanie are the step-daughters of LouElla Marr-Montoya.

Oliver is a business owner in Las Vegas and Oneida is a board member of the Viles Foundation and a child advocacy attorney
in San Miguel County.

Antonia Vigil and Annette Vigil-Gallegos Antonia Vigil and her daughter Annette Vigil-Gallegos. Antonia was so excited about celebrating Viles Foundation that she traveled from Pittsburgh, PA to attend the luncheon. Four of Antonia's siblings also attended college on scholarships.

bbb Angelina Romero Sullivan is a retired educator. Mary Alice Herrera is Erica Hererra's mother. Erica works in Albuquerque as an EVS manager.

of Matie and George Viles at Mountain View Ranch.

aaa Chris Lopez is a newspaper publisher and Latania Marr is a dual language education teacher of third graders. She is LouElla Marr-Montoya's daughter.

are active Las Vegans and very interested in the Viles Foundation.



Glen and Nicholas Marrujo Glen and Nicholas Marrujo Glen and Nicholas Marrujo are cousins who received Viles scholarships. Both are nurses.

Ted Maestas and Huie Ley Ted Maestas and Huie Ley. Ted taught school in Las Vegas. His great nephew Ethan Maestas attended NMSU on a scholarship. Ted is also in charge of the NMHU "H" Club.

for the Las Vegas City Schools.



Kathleen Sharp and
Juan Jose Pena
Kathleen Sharp and Juan Jose Pena Matie Viles had no direct descendants, however her husband's sister Emma Viles Robinson had children. Kathleen Sharp, talking to Juan Jose Pena, is George Viles great niece.



Rita Rael Kavanaugh Rita Rael Kavanaugh Rita Rael Kavanaugh is a financial analyst and data management coordinator in Albuquerque. She is enjoying the Bas` Relief of Matie.

Crystal Gutierez-Cavanos Crystal Gutierez-Cavanos attended NMHU for a degree in social work.

Eleanor Wald and Merideth Hmura Eleanor Wald is a founding member of the Board of Directors. Her daughter Merideth Hmura considers it to be a privileged to be a board member also.


Beatrice and
Genoveva Hurtado
Beatrice and Genoveva Hurtado Beatrice Hurtado attended college on a scholarship and gives back that opportunity as a member of the board. Her daughter Genoveva assists with paperwork.
LouElla Marr-Montoya and Latonia Marr LouElla Marr-Montoya and Latonia Marr Both LouElla Marr-Montoya and her daughter Latonia Marr received scholarships to attend college.
